I am lucky enough to be a sahm to my 17 month dd. To keep busy during the week we go to story times and gymboree classes. She has been getting one cold after another this winter and even had the stomach flu. Would you continue to take her to these actvities even though she continues to get sick?
Re: How often does your lo get sick?
Well, I wouldn't take her while she's sick, but I wouldn't stop taking her just because she's getting sick. Although, that would definitely change if she were getting more than colds and stomach viruses.
Also, my daughter has only been sick twice, so you should probably ignore me.
I'm fortunate to be able to say that the worst ailment my DD has had was a 105 degree fever (that didn't even cause her to act abnormally). She's never even had a reaction to any of her vaccinations. *knocks on wood*
If I were you, I would absolutely continue to bring her (when she's not sick) to the activities. Getting sick, while it can be unpleasant, is actually good for her, because it's helping her immune system to develop and grow.
She's been sick once every, and it was only for a day. I'm a SAHM, too. Like PP said, I wouldn't take her when she's sick, but I wouldn't stop involving her in things just because she's getting sick.
And really, either they get sick now, or they get sick in kindergarten when they start interacting with a bunch of kids then. Neither is pleasant, but it's gonna happen sometime!
These are 2 different questions...
1. No - don't take him if he is sick.
2. My DD has had 2 colds in 14 months. I am also a SAHM with her.
I would take her when she wasn't sick.
DS has had a few colds (just runny/stuffy nose), and had one that stuck around and turned into an ear infection recently (and he's still breastfeeding, so who knows). We still go to playgroups as long as he's feeling okay.
