Fight with my mom over shower (vent)

So I have to pick a date for the shower because I work crazy weekend hours and my MIL has been wanting to book a flight for 2 months now. So I suggested a date to my mom which would make me 31 weeks and she totally ripped me and told me that is ridiculous. She thinks I should have it like a week before my due date, just because she did, that's what I should do. So she told me I should have nothing to do with planning it and should have it a weekend which will make me 38 weeks and I am scheduled to work 7p-7a that whole weekend!!!!! I am soooo pissed and was looking forward to helping her as something nice mother-daughter to do. Apparently not!!!!!! AHHHHHH

    Wow... sorry to hear about that... I don't think I would want my shower so close to my due date... not to mention you have to work... that would be hard... GL with the outcome :)

    I certainly hope you are able to convince her to do it sooner than 38 weeks! I can't imagine having a shower so close to your due date.. I know at 38wks my SIL wanted to do little more than leave her house at all.?

    But FWIW, I have been "banned", more or less, from helping in any way with the planning of my shower as well. But, as many showers as I've hosted/cohosted in the last year, I am a little relieved. ;)

    gl.  my mom tried to schedule my shower for mid to late may (i'm due june 2) and i politely requested mid april.  i would like time to finish the nursery and put shower gifts away. i figure at anything past 36 weeks i will be sitting on the couch praying for labor.

    Try to explain to her that you wouldn't feel comfortable having it so late, as who knows, maybe you won't make it that long?! Also, you would want time to put the stuff away, etc. Hope you get things worked out!!

    Thanks girls. I very nicely hinted that I'd rather not have it past 36 weeks but that didn't go over well, she thinks I am crazy. ?I know secretly she still wants me to have the shower after it's born anyways so she can buy either pink or blue stuff since we are not finding out. She tried to convince me of that a long time ago when I first told her we are making it a surprise. Something so stressful that shouldn't be. Love her to death but she is pushing my buttons.
