We originally wanted to get married on 7/29/06 because DH's parents were married on 7/29 and it had special significance for him. But, the place we wanted to have our reception at was booked that day so we bumped it up by one week.
we knew we had to get married in the summer time, too many family members/friends are teachers or still in school. and we knew we wanted it outside, so we took out july and august (it's way too hot then). then we picked the one weekend that worked (for most people) in june and picked sunday because it saved us about 7 grand. we got married on fathers day and it was awesome!
I wanted end of July/Early August since I am a teacher and I wanted the summer to finish planning, but enough time to go on our honeymoon before going back to work. My friend was already planning a wedding for July 12th (I was in it and she was in mine)..and my sis had gotten Married July 26th a few years ago (but is now divorced)...so August 2nd worked best for us!
We needed to get married in the summer (I am a teacher) and we didn't want to get married on my birthday so we just looked to see when the reception hall and church were both available. It ended up being on 7/14.

We are both teachers. We looked at the school calendar and picked the first weekend after finishing the school year. It just happened to be 7-7-07 and the church was free and the reception hall we wanted. We need realize the significance until a few months before the wedding.
The first date we had was the first Saturday the reception hall had available - I think this was in October or November. Then the day I went to pay the deposit someone canceled a Saturday in August just as we were walking into the office - called DH at work and told him we were moving it up! We just didn't want to wait any longer than we had to. So we were married August 20th - and I hate the heat!

Opps ... We didn't realize the significance until a few months before the wedding.
Hmm...there's no significance in our wedding date. I wanted a Fall wedding, and the date we ended up with was the only Saturday in October that both the church and the reception location were available.
DH was a teacher at the time, so we were aiming to pick something that would fall near a scheduled break so he wouldn't have to take as much time off. We originally planned for right before school started in August, but decided 4 1/2 months might not be enough time to plan. Then we tried for the end of December, but thought it might be hard to get people to come around the holidays (I have a lot of family overseas, and air travel at that time is not cheap!). We ended up settling on November 17, which was right before Thanksgiving break.
I wanted to get married in March for our anniversary but we were still in school so we decided to wait until May. Then we decided we were moving states for DH's law school so we wanted to get married at the beginning of May so we could move and get settled. May 10th was the first weekend after graduation and it was sort of like a mothers day gift!
I wanted summer and then we thought about our anniversary (8/16) but MIL is a teacher and that was too late and DH liked the idea of 08/08/08 and the venue I wanted was available, so with my BFF/MOH's wishes (it's her bday) we chose the date.
I always wanted a fall wedding and September 13th just happened to be the "day". I was a bit superstitous because some year our anniverary will be Friday the 13th. Oh well. It was the only day that week in Jamaica that it didn't rain though... i thought it was a good sign!

After 2 miscarriages and many prayers, our angel is here:)
We were planning an outside wedding so our main goal was not to have our guests dripping with sweat in the Texas heat. So we picked October and took the first Saturday available that month. The weather turned out beautiful!
we decided on Sept b/c the location we wanted to get married at was outdoors and didn't want it to be too hot, we chose the actual date based on when the location was available

Our date kinda picked us. We decided in the Baltimore Airport that, after he finished his training in Quantico, we didn't want to do a long distance relationship any longer than we had to. He asked me how long I would need to plan the wedding I wanted, and we set our date for 7 months later.
When he proposed a month later I already had the church booked for April 12 and my dress picked out.
Ours was our 2 year anniversary. Also that date was the first time we had sex. bow chica bowbow....(that is why we decided on that date being "our anniversary" because we couldn't pick an actual starting time we started dating...)
My husband was in the army at the time and they actually had to pick it for us... they told us the weekend he could come home so we could actually have the ceremony.
Got engaged in May, needed at least a year to plan as we were doing it from 1k miles away from the location, didn't want to have it during hurricane season, or when ?it was way too hot (in Florida) So we went w/ October which is the end of hurricane season and is usually good weather. Sadly, it poured on our wedding day but stopped long enough for the ceremony.?
We knew there was only one hall we wanted to have our reception at, and they had just had a cancellation for a saturday the week I called to see what they had available. (About 10 months from when we got engaged.) Otherwise we would have had a Sunday wedding, we didn't want to wait a year or two just to have it on a saturday.
After waiting 6 years for him to propose, we were both ready ASAP once he did it. There were two dates that worked with my school schedule (I was a non-traditional student and about to turn 26, so not a bebe). We went with the later one which gave us 3.5 months instead of 2 months.
DH needed it to be around his work schedule since he was working in a school. I hate the summers in St. Louis (way too hot and humid) so that really only left us Christmas or spring break. We went with spring break so we could go on our honeymoon immediately after. We ended up with Friday night because we could get the reception hall for significantly less money and may not have gotten the place we wanted at a reasonable price. No real significance at all.

Re: Poll: How did you and DH choose your wedding date?
Ours was a 5.5 years anniversary.
It was our anniversary date. We first started dating June 21st 2002 and married on June 21st 2008!!!
Thank you IVF for our little miracles!!
It was the first day that the Church was free (for a 12:30 mass) and our photographer had open.
Opps ... We didn't realize the significance until a few months before the wedding.

I always wanted to get married in October, but then we got engaged in June and I didn't want to wait a year and 1/2 to get married.
So we picked April 28 b/c it was when the golf course had an opening.
