So i am reading the Beechnut 'solid food' brochure and they recommend.
AM: 1/2 cup of cereal and 6oz of fruit
Mid day: 2.5oz of meat, 4-6oz of veggie, 4-6oz of fruit
Mid-afternoon: 4oz of fruit
Evening: 6oz of cereal and 4-6oz of fruit.
Am i just WAY off- or does this seem like a ridiculous amount of food?
My baby would be a blimp. And would NEEEEVER eat all of that in one day.
right now she eats, 3 jars (4oz) and 25oz of breastmilk a day.
Re: solid food amount question: approx 9 months
Holy crap. My child would explode if I tried to give her 6 ounces of anything in one sitting! And that mid-day combination is more than she eats ALL day.
FWIW, DD drinks about 21-25 oz. of EBM/day while I'm at work and nurses 3 more times, but I have no idea how many ounces she's getting from me. I'd guess she has at least 30 oz./day of BM. She has about 2-4 ounces of fruit, 2-4 ounces of some kind of bean (we've been doing lentils and chick peas) and 2-3 ounces of veggies plus some extra in finger food form that she mostly just plays with. We're not doing meat yet.
Who are they kidding??? Of course THEY think babies should eat that much...of THEIR food.
DS eats about 2oz of yogurt with 2oz of fruit in the morning, and about 4-6oz of veggies/fruit in the evening. That's all we're managing right now.
That is crazy!!! DD could maybe eat that...if she didn't get any BM at all!!
I don't even know how much DD really gets since we do a lot of table foods now. But she gets cheerios and oatmeal in the morning. For lunch some yogurt and fruit. Maybe 2-3oz. For dinner, she gets some of whatever we're having and then maybe 2oz of veggies.
