My pants don't fit!

So I was getting dressed this morning and discovered that my pants that fit a couple of weeks ago barely zip! Oh no!  I don't know anything about maternity clothes.  Do I have to get new clothes the bigger I get?

Also, I don't know what to do because I don't want to gain a ton of weight, but sometimes it's so hard because one day I can be starving and have to eat every two hours or I feel like I'm going to vomit.  Other times, I feel naseous and don't want to eat. Sometimes I feel like I eat too much but I'm unable to get full or even feel comfortable.  Any tips to feeling full and not gaining a lot of weight during pregnancy?

Re: My pants don't fit!

  • It is probably mostly bloat.  I would just go buy a bellaband and continue wearing your current clothes for as long as possible.

  • What you are experiencing is bloat.  It has no correlation to how much pregnancy weight you will gain.  I would get a Bella Band and wear that, until you really need maternity which will be in about 3 months (more or less).

  • Ditto the Bella band. I personally do not own one but other on here RAVE about it!
  • Seriously??? You're worried about gaining weight???

I hate to break it to you, but you're gonna be a big fat heifer, and it will be BEAUTIFUL.  EAT because your baby wants it and you're building a placenta for Chrissakes.

  • Oh and try not to obsess about weight.  The rule of thumb is 300 extra calories a day.  If you are still starving pop some low fat popcorn or eat carrot sticks or apples.  But try not to go overboard either way and avoid nurtionally meaningless food: onion rings, hamburgers, cookies and things like that.  Every day fill yourself up w/Chicken, Salmon, salad, etc.  This will keep your weight and energy in check.

Edit: You will still gain weight and be big but it will be a healthy big and make a healthy baby!  That is what matters Smile

I love your comments.   And grilled cheese sounds soooo good right now!
  • Bella Band will help out tremendously :)

    this.

you do NOT want to eat to feel full, you want to eat to supply nutrients to your baby... and that means gaining weight ::gasp::

  • I love my bellaband and I wear my gachos from 2 seasons ago all the time. I can't fit 90% of my pants b/c of the bloat. Boo the bloat, I only gained 1 lb, but I lost before I gained so...
  • No, I am NOT worried about gaining weight. I need to and my baby needs to. I do not want to gain an unhealthy amount of weight. There is a huge difference.  I don't want to be the girl, like several I know, who gained 75 pounds while they were pregnant. That can't be healthy. And ya know, I might not be a big fat heifer. I might be a healthy, plump princess.
  • Thank you to all of who you honestly answered my question and did not criticize me for not wanting to become an unhealthy pregnant person.  Unfortunately I guess some people misconstrued my post and assume I am a selfish anorexic. The point I was making is I eat way more than 300 extra calories a day because I feel hungry all the time.  I don't want to go overboard with that and have it add on too quickly because I don't want to become unhealthy or to negatively affect my baby's health.  I'm going to buy a Bella Band this weekend. Thanks.
  • I am already so bloated, I would bet I am going to buy a Bella Band in a week.  I was complaining to my husband that I felt puffy, and he smiled at me and said very gently, "You're going to get a lot more puffy, sweetheart."  It made me crack up.
