My dr. says up to 12 oz of canned light albacore or 6 oz. of canned white albacore is fine (I think those are the right amounts). I have it about once a week - YUM! It's hard to get good fresh fish around here, so I try to eat it about that often. Tuna is good for you in moderation! Bring on the omega-3s!
LIGHT tuna is ok every now and then. Fish is good for your baby's brain development but since tuna (along with shark and swordfish etc) have high levels of mercury it is best to limit their intake and to stick with fish with less like Tilapia.
I have read in most books and online that the benefits of eating a small amount outweigh any potential harm. I have eaten tuna two or three times during my pg so far. If I feel like eating a tuna sandwich I do. I opt for chunk light instead of albacore (my fave) because the larger the fish the higher the mercury contamination.
Re: Is tuna ok?
Depends what kind - here's a link to American pregnancy association.

I think the kind in most tuna salad is chunk light which is fine about once a week (at least that's what my OB said).
That's the one craving I have had consistently through my pregnancy, and I definitely indulge it!

Just eat the tuna...
