cloth diapering and wipes

I'm just not ready for cloth wipes. In the mean time I hate throwing wipes away. ?Anyone use a biodegradable or flushable wipe??

Re: cloth diapering and wipes

  • Oh but you'll love cloth wipes!  I love that I only have to use one even for the poopiest of poops.  I just toss them in with the diapers, easy peasy.

Ok but what about the poo? Do I shake and dunk in the toilet? ?

  • Ditto. I would give cloth wipes a try. I never thought in a million years I would even try cloth wipes and I LOVE them. I feel like I can clean DS off so much better with them. I just said this in a post below but it's the difference between using a wetnap on your hands/face and using a washcloth...you feel so much cleaner with a washcloth.

  • I haven't been CD'ing for too long but I have rarely run into a situation where I have had to shake anything off. I guess if there was something large and solid enough I would shake it into the toilet but I usually just toss it right in the pail with the diapers.

  • I don't, but FWIW?I can't wait for our disposable wipes to be used up. I hate having to throw dirty wipes away and put the diaper in the pail. I'd rather just make one stop to the diaper pail.

  • When I first started, I used a disposable wipes to get off anything solid that was stuck on and then finished up with a cloth wipe. Now I just use only cloth wipes and like them. If anything solid gets on it I do dunk it into the toilet to rinse it off. It's not a big deal though because if I have a poopy wipe that means I have a poopy diaper that needs to make a stop at the toilet anyway.
  • I can't imagine NOT using cloth wipes. I HATE disposable ones -- I think they are designed so you have to use more than is reasonable for every diaper change. The only time we had to swish them was for part of the PB poo stage. I got a cheap tongs, which worked quite well (and for swishing the diapers and removing inserts from the BGs). I might have been able to skip it and many do, but I didn't want to risk any thing floating in my washer.
  • ditto all the pp...cd and disposable wipes are a pain.  plus cloth wipes get the bums much cleaner.  however, I've accidentally had disposable wipes go through the wash with the diapers and they actually wash up and hold up fine...they could almost be used twice!
