    I had it. I did like it, we decided to have another baby rather quickly, but I will tell you about my experience. Getting it put in was a little but painful, but it went away as soon as it was over- didn't last. I actually never had my period when it was in which was fantastic! Getting it taken out was a breeze as well, it didn't hurt at all- just a really strange feeling. If you have any more questions I will try to answer them

    I had the Mirena. I spotted for about three weeks. At the time it seemed like hell. It wasn't enough for a tampon, but was enough to ruin a few pair of underwear. After that, it was amazing. My periods got really light and then went away. I had it for about 1.5yrs. I had it removed last May and my periods are now super light. More like spotting for a few days than an actual period.

    I got the Mirena put in when DS was 9 weeks old.  Getting it inserted was a little uncomfortable, but nothing too horrible.  I had very light spotting for that afternoon, then nothing.  I have not had a period since before DS was born (August 2006).  I love it, I don't even notice it is there and there are no side effects that I have experienced.

    I'm glad you posted this topic, I am thinking about getting it done too. My insurance already approved it. I hate taking bcp!

    I'll post just to kind of give you a glimpse of the other side. I got mine put in July 2007. Spotted on and off until January 2008. No periods after that, which was great. Had three yeast infections within six weeks in the spring. (DR said could have been bc of Mirena, don't know) In November 2008-December 2008 I had two bacterial infections, one of which turned into PID. Had it  yanked and has been fine since.
