2nd Trimester

Does anyone else feel like they can't breathe?!

I know I've read a few places now that it's normal to have shortness of breath during pregnancy, but it still freaks me out! I didn't have this with PG#1, so it's unfamiliar territory for me. I could just be sitting on the couch watching TV and I'll feel like I just ran a marathon. I'm constantly taking deep breaths because I feel like I can't get enough oxygen, and I'm dizzy all the time too. Does anyone else feel like this? Just wondering if this is normal or if I'm the only one....TIA!

  • This has only recently started happening to me, if I've just been talking A LOT, but other than that, nope, especially not so early on.

  • Stairs get me. That's about it. I can't do too much without getting really tired and having to sit down, but stairs are the only thing that give me breathing problems.

  • I feel like this but not quite as severe as you're experiencing. ?I'm going to start yoga classes to help get in the habit of taking deeper breaths.

  • I've experienced shortness of breath a lot actually! I'm a vocalist in a band, so when we're on stage singing and moving around I can hardly breathe. I'm still able to sing, but my lung capacity isn't what it was before pg.

  • I have had this since first tri.  I can just be sitting down and suddenly am short of breath. Dr. says it is normal, but it is a horrible feeling.

  • I have had this problem and its getting progressively worse throughout my pregnancy, but I had really bad asthma before getting pregnant, I'm scared to think of what it will be like as I get farther along. I hope you start feeling better though, just take it easy!
  • Yes it happens to me too. I've also read that it's "Normal", but SERIOUSLY??? Sometimes I feel like I'm going to pass out from not getting enough oxygen. That CAN"T be healthy. Another girl I know that's PG went to the ER, she previously had Asthma so they gave her a nebulizer but the thought of taking hormones while PG seems like a big No-no- to me ya know?

  • I am so glad to hear this is normal!!!  I was making jam with my mom yesterday and just mashing the berries made me seriously out of breath!  I have mild asthma and don't take medication for it so I assumed it was due to that . . . good to know its normal.
