I think it means something different to different people.
I went without any pain meds and had a vaginal birth. I wouldn't consider a vaginal birth with pain meds "natural" but if someone else does that is fine by me.
It only can mean that all these women went into the wild and birthed their children by themselves, bit the cords, and well, you don't want to know what they did to the placentas. It is the natural way.
I hate the phrasing on that badge, though. It should be something like "Natural Birth Mama" or something. Otherwise, it sounds like I busted out of the hospital, ran into a field and horked the sucker out into the corn.
"natural" to me means no drugs/vag, but that's just what i thought when i saw it. i'm sure it applies to epi/vag delivery as well.
I had an epi and don't consider my delivery natural. I think natural applies to women who went med-free for their whole labor, even if it ended in an emergency c-section.

I had an epi with my first but it didn't work. I felt every minute of that labor.
Does the pain make it a natural birth or the drugs? Do I get any credit for that?

I've seen people with the Natural badge and the C/S badge too. So there are definitely different interpretations. It is weird, b/c I too went unmedicated until I had to have my C/S.
Re: " I went natural" badge question...
My interpretation of a natural birth is a vaginal birth with no painkillers/epidural.
I, however, did not even come close!

Ahhh I wasn't sure.
I guess I went "natural"...not by choice, but I did.
If I could be guarenteed a labor and delivery like this one, I would have ohhh lets say 18 kids!
Ditto on the vag and no meds thing.
