1st Trimester

Anyone else hoping for twins?

I am really hoping my ultrasound in a couple weeks shows two little ones... is that crazy?  I have always been facinated with twins and although I know it would be twice as much work, I'm secretly hoping to have them.
DD conceived naturally in 2009.  TTC #2 since August 2010.  Praying for guidance as we decide what's next.

  • I was secretly hoping for the opposite ... cause I don't think I could handle being a first time mom with two instead of one =) GL!
  • :::sighs:::

    Good Luck !

ditto.  the u/s was a relief.

  • ugh....i'll take anything at this point.  I've never gotten this far in a pregnancy.
  • ummm, no. While that would have been quite an experience we were VERY happy to see one very strong heartbeat.

  • Nope, I was happy to get what I got.
  • I would be happy with one healthy baby with all the issues we've had.
  • Not at all.

Twins are cute and when I was younger I said I wanted to have twins.  But after seeing some of my friends and relatives have twins I have no desire anymore.  Being 56 weeks pregnant does not appeal to me, and neither does the worry that I wont be able to carry them to term.

All I want is a healthy baby.  I have no wish for anything in particular.

  • No, I was thankful for only one for financial reasons.
  • I'll bite on this one... I'm 34 now and will be 35 when baby is born so as I'll be an older mom, yeah I'd like to have 2 then we'd be done (I think). Of course, I'd be very nervous as I have 0 baby experience whatsoever. I think if it is just one right now then there is a pretty good chance we'd have an only child on our hands.  Not that it is bad, it is just we have a super small family and I'd really like my child to have a sibling.  That said I am perfectly willing to accept whatever God will bless us with!

  • I'm mostly just interested to see whats in there.  My mother in law as told me over and over again, since our wedding almost three years ago, that she has been having a recurring dream of me having twin girls!  I'm a little freaked out by that!

  • Oh hell no!

Twice the feedings, twice the crying, twice the diapers, twice the exhaustion. If their both crying at once, you feel bad that you can't comfort them both fully.

As someone who has worked extensively with multiples before I know how much of a blessing it can be. But I also know how ridiculously hard it can be.

  • I did!  And, no, you are not crazy.  I am facinated with twins as well, and thought it would be nice and easy to just have two at once, then not have any more after that!  I am only having one, though!

  • I think in theory having twins would be great. But when you start thinking about it, it seems really hard.  I am very petite so carrying to babies to term seems unlikely.  And to take care of two crying babies at once.  Yikes!  And all of the money you'd probably have to spend all at once for two babies seems daunting.

  • the only reason i hoped for twins was because i wanted both my embryos to survive (and maybe a little bit of the whole twins are neat thing)

but knowing i'm only having one is a bit of a relief- maybe the next time around i'll cross my fingers a little harder for 2 (to get all the babymaking over with) but as a 1st time mom i'm going to be mroe than happy with one.

  • i'm guessing this will be your first....because if you already have a baby, you would not be hoping for twins for the first time.

Ditto!! I mean, I'd love two twice as much, of course, but holy crap that would be scary.

  • At one point the doctor thought there may be two sacs.  That was a very stressful week.  My sister has twins and its great when they are 3 or so and can play with each other, but until then, its not fun at all.
  • I always thought twins would be neat, but faced with the reality of it, I'm pretty much scared sh!tless! Be careful what you wish for!
  • I wouldnt say I'm hoping for twins, but if there were to be 2 little beans instead of one, I would be thrilled (and scared as he!!, of course)

  • I wouldn't say I'm really hoping for them but my husband has said from the beginning that we're having twin girls.  We haven't had an ultrasound yet (we have one next week at 12 weeks 1 day) but we'll find out soon.  I've gained 4-5 pounds already and have a small protrusion in the lower abdomen area so who knows?!
  • It depends on the day.  It sounds cool (especially since it means not facing IVF again) but it also sounds oh so scary
