Strange bra question!

Ok so I am due in 3 weeks and I am wondering if you can wear a bra while delivering. My boobs feel so huge and heavy( to think the milk hasnt even come in yet!!) that I am thinking with just a hospital nightgown on and walking around .. it is going to totally bother me!!! I wear a bra all the time now even to bed and can imagine having nothing on trying to walk through my contractions at the hospital!

Re: Strange bra question!

  • i'm pretty sure i left a bra on during labor... although i honestly can't remember.

  • I took mine off - but I don't see why I would have needed to? Unless you have a c/s, I can't see it being a problem... but your hospital might have a policy or something about it.

  • I did! They told me to take it off then I think they got tired of fighting me. They would have to pry that thing off of me.

  • I had a c/s and I left my sleeping/nursing bra on.
  • I wore mine.  I can only imagine it would be a problem for a c-section.  I wouldn't recommend an underwire tho...  There may be times during labor when you will not have the mobility to adjust a wire that has become uncomfortable.

  • I asked to wear a sleeping/nursing bra and was told that I couldn't. I was induced, and they said it would interfere with the IV, epi, etc.  I guess it's up to the hospital.
  • I had to take mine off.  I was supposed to have a vaginal birth through induction, but ended up with a c.  Either way...it was off.  If it was on I wouldn't have been able to get it off with the IV's and what not.  You honestly probably won't even notice your boobs during the labor.
  • I wore my nursing bra the whole time, but I didn't deliver in a hospital. I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to, but hospitals are weird with their rules.
  • I wore a sports bra for a lot of it, but the anesthesiologist asked me to take it off when I got my epidural.  If I had asked not to, I really don't think they would have minded, though.

  • I had my sports bra during labor until I got an epi when they make you take it off.  I had a sports bra on because I wasn't planning on bfing.  It was a pain to take off because of the iv hook ups and all, so I had to take it off.  If you have something with a clasp you should be fine.

  • When I got the epidural, they taped tubes up my back.  If I had had a bra on, I'm sure they would have made me remove it.
  • I asked to leave mine on when I got to the hospital and they said okay.  No problem with epi lines since they just threaded them under my strap.  I also had an unscheduled c-section and again not a problem.
