convertible carseat installment

We just got our convertible carseat for our DS. ?I read our car manual and the direction for the Evenflo Triumph. ?They both said that the rear center seat is the best place, but the LATCH system is only located on the outer two seats in our car. ?So, we would have to install the carseat using just the lap belt if we put it in the rear middle seat. ?What did everybody else do? ?I figure the LATCH is the safest (since it was made specifically for carseats), but both manuals said the middle seat was best...I'm confused :)

Re: convertible carseat installment

  • Installing the carseat using the seat belt is equally as safe as using LATCH.  In either case, the seat has to be PROPERLY installed (you know that already)... but the middle is definitely safest.  My car also has the LATCH installed only on the side seats, so James' base is installed with the seatbelt in the center, snug and safe!

  • As long as it's properly installed, the middle is safest.
