  That seems excessive to me. I had to drink a water bottle worth and then some, but as soon as I laid down she made me get up and go pee.

  I didn't have to have a full bladder for my big ultrasound...well not for any of my ultrasounds actually. They always seem to see what they need to without problems.

  my brochure suggests emptying your bladder 1 hr before scan and then drinking 2, 8 oz glasses of liquid. I bet i could get away with even less than that. Everyone is different and drinking tons of water is just plain torture. You know when your bladder is full; drink to that point. If you have to let some out and refil, do so. GL!

  I believe I was told to finish drinking three "big" glasses of water one hour before the u/s. I was dying and oh so grateful that they were running more or less on schedule. The tech/doctor guy said my bladder was TOO full, and that he only needed it full to measure the cervix anyway. (He also said it must be my first baby because otherwise I'd know I could cheat and drink less. LOL)

  So he measured my cervix and let me pee, and then I came back and he took the baby's measurements, etc. Apparently they don't actually need a full bladder to see the baby. I dunno.

  I emptied my bladder before the 40 min. drive to my RE's. In the car, I drank a 24 oz. water bottle and this was enough. They actually had me empty out some as it was too full.

  Mine actually had me empty my bladder before we started the u/s.    At the NT Scan, they had me drink a little during the u/s to get baby to move, but still, I had emptied my bladder before going into the u/s room. 
  
  I can not imagine trying to drink and hold that much with them putting any amount of pressure on my abdomen.  After at my big u/s, I actually felt slightly bruised the next day because she was pressing so hard. 

  Maybe you can down a 20oz bottle of water on your way to the clinic?  That should be more than plenty!

  Lol! I just posted this in response to another question. DO NOT drink that much water!!!! I was told to do the same thing and was in horrible pain waiting for my u/s (which was almost 1/2 hour late!!) and then the tech had me empty my bladder as soon as I got in there. All the pain was for nothing!  I had to go back 2 weeks later to get another u/s. I was told to drink the same amount of water. After talking to some friends I decided not to. I drank one bottle of water on my way there and was fine. Much better experience!

  Thanks ladies!  They just called confirming my appt, and reminded me to drink 30 ounces of water 1.5 hours before I come in.  Well I might drink some before, and pee before I leave and then finish drinking the rest on the way there.  Hopefully they will be on time because if I have to pee they will all know about it!  LOL!!
