Babies: 9 - 12 Months

He won't let me put him down...for 2 days straight!

My normally happy albeit needy baby screeches and wails every. single. time. I put him down. His favorite toys entertain him for like half the time. I sit to play with him and he plays for a second then cries and reaches for me. We cosleep and it isn't enough to be in the bed with me, he has been scootching up until his face is one inch from my face. If I turn or move, he is up crying. It was a long night. I thought ear infection? Put no other signs of illness and no tugging. Then I thought maybe he just needs some extra love but ge isn't acting secure, rather he's insecure. I've tried tylonol thinking it was teething. He has his bottom 2. How long after this do they get the top 2? Any other suggestions? I'm typing with one hand while rocking him on my hip here.

  • It's likely teeth.  Every baby gets teeth at different times, though.
  • Loading the player...
  • It may be another tooth.  My DS got his bottom two and a week later got fussy again.  Two days later tooth number three (also on the bottom) poked through.
  • I've been going through the same thing this week. I don't know what's going on! It's ridiculous! DS may have teeth coming, they better hurry up!!
  • Oh you guys are so smart. I did feel around in his mouth but I was concentrating on the top because that's where I thought they next ones were likely to come in. I felt around some more and low and behold--a third bottom tooth trying to poke through! I'm so glad I know what's going on!
  • Have his sleep/nap habits or schedule changed? My DS gets like this when he's had a bad night sleep or hasn't napped well.
  • My DS has been acting funny, too. He does not want to be put down for very long and just wants to be held. This weekend he was extra fussy. I just found his first tooth coming out today!?
