2nd Trimester

Do you have a name that you LOVE but DH doesn't?

Mine is Liam.  Unfortunately his cousin just named her son Liam, and even though they live in AUSTRALIA he won't budge on it.

Also - is there a name that he loves that you don't?  DH loves the name Hamilton.  Me - not so much!

Anyone else in my boat?

  • Yes, mine is Liam (too!) and Ethan, DH loves Benjamin and that's just NMS.

HM... atleast we have almost 5 more months to figure this out!

  • I love the name Lucy but DH said absolutely not. Oh well, we agree on others.
  • Yes, but I got over it in my last pregnancy... I love Kyan. But not only does DH hate it. Everyone I know hates it too. LOL. Oh well.

DS likes Aaron and Daren. Aaron is okay and I don't care for Daren at all.

I like Liam btw! I tried to get DH to go for it (instead of William which is what we used, William is DH's name) but he said no way.

  • Yes! I love the name James, but my DH does not like the nn Jim or Jimmy. On the other hand, he loves Canyon -- and I think that is a little too out there for me.?
  • Ethan, Evan, Mason, Charlotte, Claire...yep. ?He nixed them all.
  • I LOVED Blake Ryan! It goes great with our last name too! But DH hated it and now we've settled on Ryan for a first which I still love.
  • Yep.. Nevan (or Nevin).. Husband absolutely hates it, though. *sigh*

OMG that's so funny!  Liam and Ethan were my two absolute fav's!  DH didn't like Ethan either.  Sad

  • Cadence...the one girl name I had finally liked.
  • I love Kellerman.  (I don't care if you guys all hate it - I love it.)  DH was fine with the NN Kelly (for a boy) but doesn't dig Kellerman.

He loves John.  No way, no how.  Not gonna do it.

  • My favorite name is Gavin.  I absolutely love it.  I've loved it since before it was "cool".  Wink

DH is NOT a fan.  He thinks it's "wussy/girly".  Uh... DH, I've never heard of a girl named Gavin, and I think it's a strong, masculine name.

Anyway, I love it so much that I'm gradually trying to win him over on it by calling the baby "Gavin".

  • Gable...I absolutly love love love loved it!! I came up with it about 6 months before we were TTC adn told him it and he never said a word...fast forward to actually deciding on names and he says "all the kids will call him Gay"...and I said...Well your name is Kyle and your friends still call you that.  So how do you suppose we avoid this?

Long story short...I was forced to move on

  • I have the EXACT same problem!! Well, actually, it's not a prob anymore b/c we found out we're having a girl, but our one boy name was Liam! Then he found out his cousin, who I have seen ONCE in the entire 7 years we've been together and lives across the country, named his son Liam. Now he's all against it for all of time.

I also like the name Eamon, but DH thinks its foofy..or something...

  • I really love Theodore (Theo) and Lucas, but DH won't budge on either of those.  I pulled the pregnancy hormone card and got him to agree to Gabriel (after my favorite author and actor), but only as a middle name.

He, on the other hand, can't let go of Robert Brian, which I absolutely hate.  I mean Bobby, Robby, Bob, Rob -- ughh!  DH grew up in Mexico, so I guess those were cool "american" names that he heard a lot as a kid, but I just can't convince him how dorky they are.

Unfortunately, the one name we both love and agree on, Alexander or Alejandro, isn't an option because DH's son is named Alexis/Alex (in Mexico Alexis is totally a boy's name) and we can't steal the poor little guy's name.

  • DH didn't like a lot my name choices.  To name a few...

Margo, Lillia, Zoe, Natalie, Alice, Paige, Sophie

  • I like Alice.  DH thinks Brady Bunch.

I think I'm successfully luring him toward Olive Smile

  • I love the name Gavin for a boy and Brienne for a girl but he hates both of them...
  • my DH has nixed pretty much all my name choices- and comes up with none of his own. he calls the baby michael (we don't know what we are having) just to make me crazy- its a completely overdone name in my crazy family that I want no one to think I named my kid after them!?

I tell him that any girls name ?you have to say Honorable Blah Blah to see if it sounds good or too cutesy and boys names announce as if they are the starting quarterback- ?

  • Yup - I love the name Tatum for a girl, and DH absolutely hates it.  So, it's out.

  • He LOVES Oliver Hayes... I like it but it isn't my first choice.  I love Xander Grayson but he says all he can think of is Zoolander.  I think that's fab cause then our baby would be "ridiculously good looking" :)
  • yep...i love alexander, dh hates it :(
  • The ladies must really love Liam, b/c that is my choice for a boy name too.  Unfortunatly, DH thinks it sounds way too wussy and nixed it.  His fave is Oliver, which I like but don't know if I'm in love with.

  • If we would have been having a girl - I loved loved the name Olivia, but dh hated it. I also loved the name Jack for a boy, dh didn't like that either.

DH likes the name Colt for our little boy, uhh... nms.

We settled on Ethan which we both love.

  • I really like the name Delaney for a girl, but DH absolutely hates it..
  • Yep.  We disagreed on girl's names until finding some we both liked and for boys, I liked Benjamin, Wyatt and Ryland and he doesn't.  He likes Calvin, which I don't.  Fortunately we have a couple we can work with.

  • Yes - we can't agree on any boy names.  I like Logan and Jake.  He hasn't given me any names that he even likes.

At least we agree on two girl names: Sofia Anne and Isabella Marie.

  • We agree on our boy's name - James Richard - because it's both of our father's names, but for a girl, I'm stuck on Elise Marie.  He wants Lilith Marie.  It just makes me think of Fraiser.  Haha.

  • Oh, yes. I won't take up this whole thing with a list- I'll just give an example of each... lol

For a girl, I love Ava: He loves Lotus. For a boy, I love Zane: He hates it, yet has no opinion for one he loves.

  • imagethatgirlang:

I love Kyan. But not only does DH hate it. Everyone I know hates it too. LOL. Oh well.

Kyan is adorable. I <3 it!

  • Emerson, for a girl or boy. It is a family name that I love, but he doesn't like it as a first name at all.  He says it is too pretentious for a boy, and too boyish for a girl. Boo on him

  • DH has vetoed just about everything I've thrown out-he's about to not get a vote if he doesn't come up with some!

But I had a friend who's DH wanted to name their son Percival, nickname him Percy for short.  That got rejected quickly, especially with their last name! :)
