ongoing ridiculousness of medical care

so i posted last week after my first "prenatal" appt (which doesnt even count as that) about not being able to get in for an u/s till march 5 when i ll be about 11 weeks.  it takes them a week to get the results to my drs office (upstairs).  so i just called to reschedule the appt w/ my dr for my first prenatal and got march 16!  i ll be just about 13 weeks if my dating is right. 

i know some of the scheduling problem is dhs work schedule - w/o him i cant get to appts (he has the car at work and i dont really drive anyway) plus i doubt they want me bringing a rambunctious 1 year old to my u/s.  but isnt that still insane?  or am i being unreasonable? 

i m really not sure socialized medicine is really all that.  as crappy as insurance is i never had problems being seen in a timely manner.

    I'm sorry. I don't know what's reasonable anymore with healthcare. My dr usually doesn't do an u/s until around 10 weeks or so usually. The only reason he did any earlier with dd was because a) my ins covered them and b) because I was a nervous wreck.?

    thanks ladies.
    i wouldnt care so much about the u/s (as nice as it is and as spoiled as i was w/ ben) except that my dr (family dr) really wants a firm edd before seeing me again.  i dont have a clue whats covered here, we re new to canada, so i m not even sure what i m "entitled" to or however you want to put it.  but given that i have no LMP and high risk thanks to my factor V which is not going to go away i m feeling like this shouldnt have to wait for a month for another appt.  i ve now been pg w/ different insurance in NY, MD, and ON and this is by far the most difficult.  if i d known it would be such a pain i would have called the minute i poas!  oh well, hindsight i guess.
