OK, so DS rolled over this weekend (and he is getting to big for the swaddle) so we decided it was time to ween him of his swaddle last night and it went AWFUL! I started by just unswaddling one arm but he would not fall asleep because he started pulling the binky out of his mouth (he cant put it back in). We tried unswaddling both arms and it took a while but he fell asleep about 45 min later. He woke up at 12:30 to eat, though and we were up with him for 2 HOURS!!! We finally gave up and swaddles him and he was asleep in 5 minutes!
I dont know how to do this.; HELP!
P.S. He sleeps unswaddles at naptime but he sleeps on his tummy then. Should I just let him tummy sleep at night? (I'm sure Ill be a nervous wreck)
Re: HELP....trying to ween the swaddle.....
Sorry I have no advice. However, I am in the same boat. I finally given in to swaddling. I hope he will just grow out of it someday soon.
About tummy sleeping I would be a nervous wreck too so I would end up getting no sleep anyway.
I feel your pain. GL
If you find something that works please let me know!
I, too, wish I could help you but my almost 6 month old won't sleep without being swaddled.
If it helps, Kiddopotamus makes large swaddle blankets. You can get them on Amazon.
We have three.
Yeah I'm right there with ya. My 4 month old still needs it. Otherwise she scratches the crap out of her face! She got one arm out last night and ended up with a huge scratch on her forehead.
I also was debating about letting her sleep on her belly since she can roll over but I think I will wait it out longer. As long as she can fit in the swaddle me ( i also have the large size) then I will keep swaddling.

I'm in the same boat. DD is scooting around the crib a bit now, but not rolling over (unless she's not swaddled). I tried to go swaddle free on Saturday night and it was terrible. She woke up screaming every 30 or 40 minutes until I finally swaddled her and she slept through the night.
When she is swaddled, DD sleeps 10 or 11 hours at night . . . awesome.
