Pregnant after a Loss

doppler heartbeat around 11 weeks?

Yay or nay?

We heard Seth's at 10w2d, so I don't know why I'm so sure they won't find his/her heartbeat tomorrow.

If you had an appt around 11 weeks, did your doctor successfully find a heartbeat with the doppler, and if not, what was the course of action: wait or get u/s?

  • WIth my first pregnancy we were unable to find the h/b at 11wks.  I was sent for a "dating" u/s a couple days later, and the baby looked perfectly fine and measured right on time (only later did I m/c--so I am sure it was unrelated).

With my second pg we found the h/b with some searching at 11wks.  I was able to find it at home everyday from 10wks 2days on (sometimes it took many minutes though).

  • My doctor found the h/b at around 11 1/2 weeks.  I couldn't find it at home until about a week after that.  Best of luck at the appointment!
  • We were able to hear it at the dr. office at 9w3d, and heard it with our home doppler right when we got it in at 10w2d. Good luck!

  • I found mine at home the first time at 10w5d.... and even then it took a while to find.... it's gotten easier the further along I get!
  • I heard the heartbeat on a doppler at the beginning of 10 weeks (and I am not a thin person--size 14).  I think you will definitely hear it.  If you can't, I would demand a quick u/s to make sure everything is OK.  Good luck!
