Hello! Please recommend your bottle warmer. I am having to pump and bottle feed my preemies and the time it takes to warm up a bottle of milk seems to take too long sometimes for my hungry peanuts. What do you use and why do you like it?
We kept plastic microwaveable cups handy and nuked them for about 1 min and then set the bottle in it for just a bit until the milk was warmer. It's much faster than a bottle warmer which usually takes 10 to 20 min to warm a 6oz or larger bottle. I gauge it by whether or not I could feel the milk when I dripped it on the inside of my wrist or arm. If I felt it then it was just a little too warm or too cold, and if I didn't feel it then it was just right.
I have 2 on my nightstand so i don't have to go to the kitchen in the middle o the night. ?It takes about ?5 minutes from turning it on for it to warm my 4 oz bottles. ?I haven't had to use it for big bottles yet, but so far i really like it.?
ditto microwave mugs of water and sat the bottles in them for a minute. ?That's what they did in the nicu to keep bottles warm so we just followed at home. Other bottle warmers took too long. We found too that they didn't care how warm or cold their formula was anyway!
I'm one of "those" parents who microwave the formula. We would pour it into a coffee cup and zap it for 15 seconds then pour back into the bottles.
I found that this was the fastest and easiest method for my girls. But you have to be careful to stir it up before feeding so there aren't any hot spots.
Oh and it takes a toll on the microwave too....ours is getting weaker from the constant short runs.
I don't think you can microwave breastmilk can you?? I currently put warm water in a cup and the bottle/milk storage bag in it per nicu directions but never thought about heating the water first...i think i will try that. I do however like the warmer recommended so I am going to look into that as well. Thanks soo much!!
