From what I've been reading it seems that most people get b/w done at their ultrasounds. I went in for my cd13 ultrasound today, but they didn't check my E2 levels or anything. Is this something I should ask them to do for me? My ultrasound showed minimal growth (again), so maybe that's why they didn't do it. I go in for a follow-up on Wednesday.

Re: Do you get b/w done at ultrasound appts?
Yup, every time I go for u/s, I get b/w also.
I think the b/w is more telling than the u/s.?
Funny you mention this....I just had a U/S on Thursday which was an absolute fiasco to get scheduled.
On Friday The IVF coordinator says to me "Oh, did you get your b/w done, too?". Ummm, no.....no one told me I needed bloodwork. Yeah, I was pissed.
Your E2 level is a lot more telling then your follicles. U/S is a 2d image and it is a lot easier not to see some things going on that may be happening, follicles can be missed, etc.
E2 can show if you are responding to meds too fast, too slow etc by the way it increases over time.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

W/ each u/s apt I have b/w always follows. I didn't go in for an u/s on Friday but they did want me to have b/w done. That is the 1st that has happened.
Hmm, well it sounds like I'm not the norm, but this is my 3rd u/s for this cycle and the first time they did b/w. They were checking to see if I had started to surge yet. I would just ask your RE what's standard and when they plan on doing b/w. Good luck!
I'm in my third medicated cycle and only this time have they done some b/w. I believe it has to do with what one of the pp's was saying... about making sure your body is responding to the stims they way they expect. For the cycles that they didn't do b/w it was the same cycles that they could see on the u/s that my follies were growing and that everything seemed as predicted. This time they just don't seem to be growing (even with the increase in Follistim dose) so the RE does bloodwork just to make sure there isn't something going on that they don't see in the u/s. Also, my RE always appologies when I have to get b/w. She knows it sucks to have so many needles so I think she tries to minimize it.
Hope that helps. Mostly, I wanted to say that you're not the only one that doesn't get b/w each time. I'm right there with you.
