When to Install car seat?

When did/are you planning to install your car seat? I know I don't have to put the actual seat in, just the base but it seems so early to do so.

I installed it the day after my shower at 36 weeks, then took it to get inspected at the first available appointment. You might as well do it whenever you have time, so it's one less thing to worry about getting ready towards the end.

we went to the local highway patrol station to have them do it and they are booked a month out so we just got ours done this week - can never be too early!

We installed our car seats this week and got it inspected. It's kind of a relief to be able to check that off of my to do list. I'm also 1cm dialated and 70% effaced, so I want to be prepared.

We put ours in a couple of weeks ago, but we just had it inspected this week. We probably waited too long. Two friends of mine just had their babies at 36 weeks, so we wouldn't have been able to get it inspected if that had happened to us.

It's never too early! As long as you don't mind having it sit in the car. With all the early labors we've had lately on this board, you can never be too early.

You might want to go down to the police/fire dpt and get it checked that you're doing it right. When you go into labor is when I would throw in the base and carseat. No need of driving around with it for weeks and not using it. Make sure DH knows how to put the base in, and he can do it while you are in the hospital waiting to be released. You have to bring the carseat in and show the hospital that you have the baby in the carseat, or else you can not take the baby.

we were planning on having the hospital check it but they were booked a month out, too late for us. we had the police station help us (for free) last weekend. if it won't bug you, at least get the base installed/checked then you can just pop in the seat when you're ready to go!
