Chris Brown is now "remorseful."

https://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20259160,00.html

"This is unfortunate, this stumble, this situation," Brown (Clinton Brown, his father)  continues. "Hopefully, he will get past it. We all have our shortcomings. We all trip."

We all have out SHORTCOMINGS?!?!  Are you effing kidding me?!  Shortcomings!  UGH.  He makes me sick.

Re: Chris Brown is now "remorseful."

  • Absurd.

My shortcoming is that I interrupt people sometimes.  Not beat people up.  What a DB.

  • I haven't kept up.  Did he really hit Rihanna?  I saw the pics of her but those were doctored.

  • "We all trip!??!!"

So strangling your girlfriend and telling her you're going to kill her is "tripping?!?" And no, sorry dude, we don't all do that.

Her name in on the police report against Chris Brown.

  • How did I read this as "Charlie Brown" more than once?  Good Lord I must be tired...

  • Nothing like enabling your child. ?If my son beat up a woman, I don't think I'd be making excuses for him (especially such lame ones)
  • I don't know why but I feel bad for this whole thing.  Maybe b/c his stepdad was abusive.  IDK.  I typically have no sympathy for abusers or even for women who stay with abusers.  But something about this just makes me sad.

  • While I agree that this is just sick.  I agree with Zenya...something about this just makes me sad. :(  For all parties involved.  He is just a kid, at 19, with an abusive step-dad.  I dunno, I am probably in the minority.  I have zero tolerance for abuse, but something is just utterly heartbreaking with the whole situation.
  • I may get flamed, but I don't know the whole situation. I'm a firm believer in fairness regardless of sex. If a woman is beating on a man, she better be ready to be hit back. The old "you don't hit girls" thing is crap. It's not right for a woman to get a pass to beat on a man just b/c he "can't" hit her back. If she was innocent in all this, then he deserves to lose it all. I suspect, however, that she wasn't so innocent. Of course, my view isn't a popular one, but I've seen plenty of women who just didn't know when to shut up, who were throwing punches, threats, the whole bit. We may never know the whole story.

No one is saying she hit him, not even him.  And while I agree it is not right for a woman to hit a man, it is SO not the same thing.

  • I think that if Rhianna hurt him in any way, he would be speaking out & showing his injuries. Regardless, I can't envision a situation that would justify him beating her until her eyes were swollen shut, choking her until she blacked out, and threatening her life. (This assumes that what we've heard so far is true).

Chris Brown hasn't come to the table and claimed any injuries.  IF the news stories are right and she was beaten until she had a black eye, split lip, possibly strangled.  That's going beyond just "defending" yourself.

  • breeze said what I was trying to say. :-)
  • I think the other thing I don't really "buy" with regard to self defense is why he couldn't just walk away. If she was being crazy & out of control, he could have gotten out of the car & walked away. . . . like he did, presumably after he beat her and choked her. As the person with a helluva lot more physical strength, the onus was clearly on him to walk away from a fight.
  • I wanted this to get a star so I'll add...ugh, prick.

  • It's also NEVER a fair fight between a man and a woman you know?  My DH is not a big guy.  I'm sure I outweighed him by the end of my PG by a good 10-15 lbs ;)

But, he is so so much stronger than me.  Now, my DH would NEVER ever act violently towards me but it still struck me when we used to 'wrestle' that he could pin me so easily.
