Water = Barf city

I know how important hydration is but I cannot seem to drink enough. I will go through small time frames of wanting water but most of the time its making me sick.. Really sick.Ick!

 I can tell I am dehydrated, not only by the GLEAMING GLARE from my Banana colored urine but I can feel it in my body. I was considering pedialyte to help but I dont know if that will really make a difference. Anyone have any suggestions to this ridiculous problem...??

Re: Water = Barf city

  • Maybe try the single mix packets for bottled water..crystal light, kool aid, hawaiin punch..there's alot of different flavors that all taste great and barely any sugar and most have no caffeine. That's been the only way I can drink any water..
  • Loading the player...
  • try sprite, ginger ale, lemonade, watered down juice.  Some times the different flavors help.

    Thats been the only way I can drink water as well but I assumed it has some adverse effect to it with the add ins. Maybe I am nuts. hahhaa. I guess Ill just stick to the crystal lite.

    THANK YOU!!!

  • If you can't keep plain water down, you need to get liquids into your body, even if it has "add ins". I can't drink water, either, so my doc told me to drink Gatorade or even Kool-Aid. Taking in a little more than just water is better than getting badly dehydrated and getting a trip to the emergency room.
  • If you are truly dehydrated you should call your OB. Once your body dehydrates, you start producing ketones (which are expelled in your urine) and that sparks a vicious cycle of ongoing nausea and isnt good for you or baby. I learned the hard way a few weeks ago and it got so bad I was hospitalized twice. If you go in for IV fluids you can break the cycle and that will help with your nausea.
  • Wow yeah, the last thing I want to do is cause hard to the baby. I will get some gatorade and just try to keep in any liquids I can.

    THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANKS!

     Yeah, and just for the recond, it is NOT fun to have someone trying to start an IV on you when you're dehydrated.

    Eek!! I know. That's the worst, the nurses had to track down a pediatric needle for me last time I was admitted. And it still hurt like a b!!
