This is ridiculous... have any of you ever been told to leave because you were feeding your child?! There was a post on my local CL about this and they are staging a feed in at a Denny's.
Re: Woman kicked out of Denny's for BFing!
The problem with that is that it stops working the older your baby gets. I used to do that when ds was your dd age but by the time he was 6 months that thing just got ripped off the second he went under. It was usually worse then discreetly nursing with my top covering me because he would usually pull off while he ripped the nursing cover off so it would be boob hanging out everywhere.
LOL at the thought of that
I can see that she'll probably start doing this soon. I have a shawl type wrap (loved baby brand) She grabs it and I have to work to keep it down. I've considered getting one of the apron types, but it seems like it would be better suited for cooking than feeding my child. ?
What kind of tops do you think are good for discreetly nursing? I feel like I have to take the whole thing out for her to actually nurse. ?
Maybe I'm becoming that militant breastfeeding lady, but I suggest we not be quiet about this. (Not that I had any intention of going to a Denny's, anyway, but that's not the point.)

Here's my email.
I am infuriated by your employee asking a woman to leave the restaurant to breastfeed her child in your Asheville restaurant. Ms. Everitt was not breaking any laws and she has the right to feed her child without being shamed and humiliated by one of your ignorant employees.
It is your responsibility to publicly apologize to Ms. Everitt. I am sure I will not be alone in boycotting Denny's until your company has made an appropriate response to this situation.

laws by state: https://www.ncsl.org/programs/health/breast50.htm
wow! I'm shocked that this happened in Asheville, which is a very 'crunchy' town. i know the law in NC explicity states that a woman can bf in public whether or not her nipple is inadvertently exposed, so there is NO WAY the restaurant should have asked her to leave. I'm tempted to go there next time i am in town and just let it all hang out while feeding DS and make them ask me to leave so i can slap them with a lawsuit or something...
thanks for the link to email them, i will do it!
N.C. Gen. Stat. ? 14-190.9 (1993)?states that a woman is allowed to breastfeed in any public or private location, and that she is not in violation of indecent exposure laws.?(HB 1143)
It's ironic that they called the police. The only ones breaking the law were the Denny's employees!!!!!!!!!?
?
This makes me really angry. I had another customer one time tell me "You should go to the bathroom and do that." I told him if he was uncomfortable, he should eat HIS dinner in the bathroom.
I just sent them an email. Absolutely nuts.
LOL - good for you
?
Really? I mean, Really?! And I say this rhetorically because obviously it happens a lot, as evidenced by this post in general, but I just cannot even imagine someone having the nerve to say anything to a BFing mother.
Good for you.
I hope this story gets national attention.

I second this - no way I can cover E's head. She likes to doubletask - eat and not miss a thing
) I can't even use a nursing cover anymore ... we usually just go to the car, sadly enough. Its not that I'm ashamed, but I am modest and I don't want the world inadvertently seeing my bb!
