1st Trimester

Anyone get a hemorrhoid in 1st tri?

I'm pretty sure I have one. It hurts a LOT when I go #2, to the point where I have to lay down for about 20 minutes afterward.

I asked my Dr. about it, and he said it's too early for me to get one, and it's probably just hurting from hard stool.  But, it hurts the same whether the stool is soft or hard.

Anyone else get one this early, and if so what did you do about it? I'm eating fiber, but maybe I need a supplment.

  • Maybe some cream to shrink it.  My aunt had hemorrhoids really bad when she was pregnant and ended up having to get surgery.  Hopefully that's not the case for you!

  • soak in warm water.  my parents have a bowl you put over your toilet to soak in, but i have no idea where to get in or what it's called.  good luck!
  • Hemorrhoids can be causes by things other than just being pregnant. If you've had a lot of hard poops lately that alone can cause a hemorrhoid so it's not unheard of at all. I got my first after giving birth to ds and I've been more prone to them since then. I seem to be getting all my 3rd tri symptoms in the 1st tri and hemorrhoids seem to be one of them. You can try a hemorrhoid pad like tucks - anything with witch hazel will help. Sitting in a shallow tub of very hot water can help too. This has been recommended to me as well and I totally plan to pick some up: Roid Rage.

It's more of an itching burning sensation with me though symptoms can include pain. I would think if it's as bad as you describe that your doctor shouldn't be blowing you off like that. It's always possible it's something else but anything that causes you pain for 20 minutes following a bm should really be addressed.
