Childcare costs?

Hi everyone. ?My husband and I are trying to figure out if we can afford for me to work part time next school year. ?My son will be about 8 months. ?I'm trying to get an idea of what child care costs would be. ?We are open to day care, in home child care, or a nanny. ?I'm looking for 2-3 days a week. ?Thanks for the info.

Re: Childcare costs?

  • My MIL watches DD but here is a link to a day care by my house for comparison. Good luck!

  • We pay $175/week for full time in home daycare. ?We've been with her since dd was born so she hasn't raised our rate. ?I think she might charge $200/week for new kids.
  • I looked into a couple of daycares and this is what I found (off the top of my head, so this may be +/- ...)

Kindercare in Aliso Viejo - $355/wk

Tutor Time in Laguna Niguel - $315/wk

    OCC daycare center - $65/day

  • we pay $207 a week for full time care at a daycare

?we went a couple places who offer part time and they were around $175 a week?

  • I have an in home nanny 2 days a week and it is considerably more expensive than daycare.  I pay $720 a month for 2 days a week.  And that is a good deal for a private nanny ($10/hour)

  • Our in home daycare is $150/wk for 3 days.  It's a little more since DD is <2 yrs.  Once she's 2+, it goes down, but I'm not sure the amount. The in-home daycare also provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

I checked out a child care center in HB, and it was $220/wk f/t for <2 yrs. Goes down after 2 yrs, but I forget to what.

We also started out with a nanny service. They charged $12/hr plus a daily travel fee of $6.  However, their rates have since gone up. We interviewed one nanny who was going to charge $10/hr. We found prices there variable between $10-15/hr.

  • I am a part time nanny and I charge 10 an hour. I also have a my first aid card and one top of that aed card. It really depends on where you go and what kind of contact you have to get into a day care. I have a friend and her child goes to a home daycare and she pays 150 a week and that included all meals.
  • Ours are in-home daycare. $40/ day meals included
  • Reading this makes me think we are overpaying! N goes to Childtime and we pay $305/week and that includes food (not milk though)
