  i bought the cheapies off the internet and used them twice a day because I could never get a positive if I was only testing once a day.... I usually did FMU at 6 am and again at 6 pm.

  When I was charting in 2007, I would do twice a day because sometimes the LH surge was detected the afternoon but not in the morning of the same day (I started doing this after reading so much conflicting info about when to test).  I didn't want to risk not maximizing my chances.
