Baby Names

"Men should not name babies."

Thank you Mitzi for the baby names quote of the day. Words to live by!

Re: "Men should not name babies."

  • I have to disagree! My husband came up with the middle name for our potential baby girl - Harlow Vivienne. Although we mutually loved the name Harlow, he came up with the Vivienne part. Also, my father named my sister and I. She's Julia Grace and I'm Meredith Leigh; two beautiful names if I do say so myself. Sometimes men aren't that bad in the name department :)

Oh, of course some men are good at it. It was just a funny line, that's all and relevant to the post I linked to. We all know that some women should not name babies either! LOL

  • That definately is true!  My sister taught a little girl by the name of "Stella Ella." Whaaaaat?!

I know it's not on topic, but I have to tell you your little boy is beautiful!

  • That's like saying men shouldn't be parents.

However, I do think we should get extra veto power because possession (in utero) is nine-tenths of the law.

  • I agree! My husband's top 5 names for a boy were: 1) Zeus; 2) Xerxes; 3) Genghis; 4) Loki; and 5) Thor. ?He wanted a "strong" and "manly" name! ?We ended up having a girl, and I named her Emerson Quinn.
  • I had a dog named Thor! I can't believe he wanted all five of those names :X How fortunate you had a girl!

  • This I have to agree with.  If we name our child Olivia he thinks the middle name should be Bolivia.

For Courtney he thinks it should be spelled Quartney and call it Quart.

He is being funny I understand but it is getting slightly annoying.

  • Hmmmm......I've met a guy named Xerxes. He was hot.

  • i definitely think that since men determine the last name of the baby, the mother (especially if she is giving birth to him/her and is the primary caretaker) should have the final say.
