Toddlers: 24 Months+

xp: "islam is the light" dolls

(xp from parenting) From what I've gotten on the web, this is an old discussion but my MIL heard about it somewhere recently and has flipped out.  DH is now going postal about it as well.  My inlaws bought DD 2 of these dolls back like a year ago.  She played with them a lot but now it's off and on as she has so many other dolls.  I hated the things cuz they never shut up and I was more than happy when the batteries finally died.

Just curious what everyone's take is on them.  DH is convinced that DD has now been brain washed and wants me to talk to our peditrician about it when I take DS this week.  I think DD is too young for that besides hearing "Islam is the light" isn't the worst thing in the world. I personally can kinda hear the "satan is king" but it so could be anything else.

Here's a link if ya don't know what I'm talking about:

  • While I dont think that your daughter is at risk for any brainwashing... those dolls are creepy and I TOTALLY heard it!

As for the brainwashing-- your DD is still very much learning her vocabulary, and just like if we were trying to learn another language, something said in mumbles would mean nothing to us.  Especially new words. Satan and Islam are not likely words she is already familiar with, so she would not be able to pick them out of the goo-goo-ga-gas like we are (even then, I am glad that guy was pointing out when to listen for them...)
