DD is 8.5mos and takes 7ozs at 6am, 6ozs at 11am, 3ozs solids at 12, 6ozs at 3:30pm, 3ozs solids at 4:30 and 5ozs at 6:30pm
At 9mos I'll start a third solids at 7a.
The amt in her bottles presently is perfect because she always leaves a couple drops so I don't think she'll be able to take more (i.e. if I were to try to get her to take three 8oz or 7oz bottles instead) and while she easily goes the 5hrs between bottle #1 and #2, I don't know that she can go 6 (i.e. the time spacing it would take to get her from 6a to 6:30p with only 3 bottles).
So, first, what are the signs, if any, that DC is able to go to 3 bottles. And if you did this, how did you initiate that change. Did you increase ozs first? Space them out first? And did you still keep solids an hour after the bottle or did you flip that for the last feeding of the day so that DC ended with a bottle instead of solids?
She takes only 24 ozs a day of formula and when we start the 3rd solid meal, that may decrease naturally to even less. If that decreases to around 21 ozs I just don't see why I wouldnt' try to get that to her in 3 instead of 4 bottles, y'know?
Re: When and how did you transition to 3 bottles/day?
I'm still doing 4 bottles/day too and I was interested to see the responses to your question. I'm guessing as they eat more food, they will drink less...
