Hi mommas,
My LO should be here any day now & I plan on exclusively breast feeding. Please don't flame me if this is a silly question but, do you set an alarm to wake up for the night feedings or do you wait until your LO has awoken? In other words, do you set a strict schedule or leave it up to the LO to let you know when he/she is hungry?
TIA!
Re: Q about night feedings
It is called "demand feeding"... most people do this. You can try to schedule it every 2-3 hours, but i is tough.
Babies can regulate what they need with the breast, so let them.
Good Luck!
I set an alarm for the first two weeks and woke her up to eat every 3-4 hours at night, but at her 2 week pedi visit, he said she had gained enough weight that I could feed on demand and let her sleep as long she wanted.
Good luck with your little one.
I did the same.
I had to make sure she ate at least every 3 hours during the day and 4 hours at night for the first 3 weeks because she was so slow to get back to her birth weight. After she got back to her birth weight the pedi said it was okay to let her go until she's hungry.
GL!
