Babies: 0 - 3 Months

What's the difference in the crib during the day and night?!

DS will NOT nap in his crib. He sleeps great in it at night but during the day, once I rock him and get him to sleep and lay him in his crib, he's wide awake! Sometimes I'll manage to get him down and it'll last anywhere from 5-20 minutes and he's awake again.

He also will not nap in the swing or bouncy seat. He naps on our chests. He will nap for hours if he's on your chest. It's been like this for about a month now. I guess I started a bad habit but why does he have to be on me during the day and be fine in his crib at night??

  • I have the exact opposite problem.  DD will nap great in her crib during the day but HATES it at night.
  • I wish I knew - I could've written this!!

Oh my.... I couldnt handle that! Where does she sleep at night?

  • I am the opposite too!! He will nap in the crib but at night no way! He sleeps in the stroller.

We tried the crib again last night - 45 mins! Then put him in the stroller - four straight hours!

  • I was having the EXACT same problem! DS sleeps awesome in his crib at night but would only nap on me during the day which was nice at first (and a good excuse not to do anything around the house!) but it was draining not being able to eat or pee bc putting him down would mean him being awake.

Every book said do the same routine you do at night but our nighttime routine includes a bath and I couldn't bathe him all day! So we put on his sleepsack (same as night) and then read a book and then into the crib he goes but on his belly. I may be flamed for that but that is the ONLY way he will nap in his crib. At night though he sleeps on his back. I think he naps well on his belly is bc of the pressure on it. He has reflux and is a gassy baby so I think it feels good for him. Not sure why it doesn't bother him at  night but I am not going to worry about it! LOL!

  • Oh, and you should check out the book The No Cry Nap Solution by E. Pantly. That book was helpful to me as well!
  • PinkeLLe- She spends the first half of the night in her PNP and then half of the night cosleeping.  I think it is because she is still nursing 2 -3 times at night.  I am hopeful that once she quits nursing as much she will stay in her crib!

Me too! DS does not nap at all unless it's on me so we basically don't take naps during the day.  He's been STTN for the most part so I guess that's my trade off.

  • I wish I knew! I could have written this post too!
Right now, DD is asleep on a blank on the family room floor next to me. She falls asleep in my arms but with either wake up as I walk to her room to put her down or as soon as I lay her in her crib (Maybe I'll get 20-30 min in the crib). But I layed down a big fleece blanket she has on the floor and laid her on it and she seems to be sleeping fine. We'll see how long it lasts. Only bummer is I feel like I cant go clean the house, etc. etc. like I could if she was in her crib,,,
