Carseat? When did you move from Infant to Combo?

I'm trying to decide if I need to take advantage of the carseat sales going on now. When did your LO switch from the Infant to the Combo seat?

TIA

Re: Carseat? When did you move from Infant to Combo?

  • are the sales going on now???  We moved DD when she was 8 months.  She wasn't anywhere near the weight limit, but she was close to the height limit and it was getting very heavy to lug the infant carrier around.

I would definitely get a seat if the sales are going on now.  I think they only happen 2x a year.

  • Willow is 14 months and still in the infant carrier seat.  She's a little girl though

  • DD was just around 9 months. We went to her check up and realized she was about to hit the height limit.

  • We moved him at 6 months but he was over 22 lbs!
  • We switched DS at 8 months. The infant carrier was getting heavy and he seemed so much more comfortable in the bigger seat.
  • We moved her at about 6.5 months.  She was about 20 pounds and I could not lug the car seat in and out of our tall car anymore.  Plus she LOVES her big girl seat.  She is up high enough to see out of the window now.
  • This weekend (almost 9 months)!  He hit the height limit in his Snugride (29 inches) a few weeks ago so it was time.  We bought the convertible carseat several months back though, because I got a great deal.  Its just been sitting in its box until we were ready to switch it out.  If you find a smokin' deal you could always buy the seat and hold on to it until she's ready to be switched over!

  • We JUST put switched her over the weekend.  Truthfully she should have probably been switched already, she's super tall and her little feet were hanging off the edge.  :(

We actually bought her convertible seat when she was just a few months old because I found an awesome deal on it.  We just held onto it until it was time to switch.

  • I bought ours during the sales but didn't use it for a few months.  We moved him around 14 months, he was and still isn't at the 30 lbs limit (we have the safeseat), but was only an inch away from the height limit.

  • We had the safeseat too and I had a heck of a time getting the straps loose enough to get her in and out....did anyone else have this problem?  They were sooo tight on her at 19 pounds that it was a wrestling match every day.
  • He?s in the convertible in DH?s car and the SafeSeat in mine. I can barely lift the thing with a 20+lb baby, but I want to wait until the 6 month mark before putting him in the BOB so I need it for the stroller. I bought another Boulevard this week with a gift card?not on sale but who knows how long Right Start will be around. I bought the first one when he was 3 weeks old. So glad it?s out of the closet now. The extra infant base takes up so much less room in there.

  • We switched when I realized that it was just too hard to lug him out in the infant seat.  He was still within the weight limit and height limit - remember that the height limit is sort of an estimate.. the "real" height limit is where their head hits - so if they have a long torso, they could hit the limit before the total height... the top of their head needs to be more than an inch (or 1 1/2?) from the top of the seat - the ahrd part, not the squishy padded part.

If there are sales now, buy it now.   You know you'll need it sometime.
