Does your DC like to eat specks of trash?

I don't mean, puts everything in his/her mouth, I mean literally go on a mission to find minute objects to pick up and eat?  And by minute I mean like just one grit (as opposed to multiple grits), or a piece of a grain of rice, or... I dunno, a hardened spec of spaghetti sauce.  She has really good "pincer skills" so I thought she was just using them a little more, and of course, everything goes in the mouth.  The other day she picked some speck of food up (from God knows when) off of her feeding tray and stuck it in her mouth and happily chewed it up.  Ew.  These things could be bits of paper, lint, she wants to eat them.  But why these little specks?  That's just weird!

  • Eww, I'm not looking forward to that.

  • Yes mine does this, but god forbid she try to use her excellent pincer skills to eat a piece of real food. I swear she would rather eat small pieces of paper than a biscuit.
  • ds likes to pick at really really small minute specs, but he doesn't always pick them up.  he mostly uses his pointer and just pokes and prods them.  of course, when he does pick them up, whatever it is does go straight in the mouth.  :P
  • Yes.  She likes to pick up threads off the carpet, little pieces of lint, even got a tiny dead bug the other day.  I don't think I'm capable of keeping my house clean enough for her not to find something to put in her mouth that I don't want her to (although I try!) so I have to watch her like a hawk.  I don't know why she always goes for the tiniest things I can't even see...
    Peru!

  • lol - I think that's weird and hilarious that she seeks out the tiniest specks.

LMAO!  Thank you!  To be fair, she does use them to eat real food--food she steals off of other people's plates when they are not looking (foods she's not suppose to have yet Stick out tongue)  I think it's just the thrill of trying to get away with it.

  • I am positive DS eats little pieces of dog food daily.

  • Yes! He can find the tiniest thing to put in his mouth.  It must taste better off the floor or something, he seems to go on search and destroy missions.
  • ds is always finding pieces of lint on the carpet.  so now i vacumm 2 + times a week!  but on a positive note - we know he has good eyesight!

  • Yes, DS does it too. In our basement, our carpet it a sort of speckled pattern. He likes to try to "pick up" the darker speckles, but of course they are attached and he can't. It's funny to watch though.
