2nd Trimester

Travel system vs. Jeep.... help!

I read here yesterday that the Jeep Liberty is compatable with Graco Snugride infant seat, which is one of the seats we were looking at, and would get a Jeep anyways (I don't know if the Liberty model was one that we liked) so...

Do we go with a Graco travel system (metrolite- recomended by Baby Bargins and really really light) or Jeep, and Graco Snugride seat, which is a little more bulky and heavy and just get some sort of cheaper version of umb. stroller later if we don't want to haul the Jeep around everwhere.....

??????????? so, so, confused!

Re: Travel system vs. Jeep.... help!

  • We bought the Jeep Liberty Limited stroller and the Graco Safeseat.  The stroller is kind of bulky, but will be great for walking through the park where you're not always on a paved walkway, plus with the 3 wheels it's so easy to maneuver.  An umbrella stroller will be good for quick trips when the baby gets older, so we'll probably pick up one of those if we feel the need.

  • I think you have to look at your lifestyle and see which would fit better. I think those travel system strollers have such small wheels that they really only work well on clean, hard surfaces like inside the mall etc. I most likely will be using my stroller on trails, sidewalks, camping and in parks etc. We will be getting the Chicco Key Fit 30 and the compatiable InStep Safari Swivel stroller. We will get an umbrella stroller later on and probably have the baby strapped in a backpack or sling for quick trips to the store.

I'm the one who mentioned the Jeep's compatibility with the Graco seats, so I better chime in here.

We live in the country and will be using our stroller in grass, on gravel -- basically, very off-road. The MetroLite stroller, while light and nice and whatever, wouldn't work well for us. So, we're going the SnugRide/Jeep option. We can use the Jeep stroller up to 40 pounds I believe ... after that, our child can walk on his/her own. Or, we'll get a wagon for when we go somewhere.

Like PP said, you have to look at your lifestyle. Does the MetroLite make sense for you? Will you use it? If it doesn't make sense, don't get it.

P.S. Or register for both the Jeep and travel system and hope someone gets them for you. That way you'll have both strollers as options!!

  • I didn'tknow Jeep made those strollers....my BRU didn't have them, but Target does.  My DH loves his Jeep, and we walk around the park alot, so I think this stroller would be better for that.  Thanks for the info, now I am doing my research!

  • I've heard bad things about the strollers that come with the travel systems.  Everyone I've talked to says it's better to just get the carseat you want, then buy a snap and go to turn it into a stroller, then just buy whatever stroller you want for when baby is older.

Since the stroller you want for when baby is older already fits your baby carseat, I think you're all set.  I would go for that, and just forget that you could have gotten a stroller that "matched" your carseat.
