Dh and I love the name Noel for a baby girl, however I am worried that people will think Noel is a weird name for a baby born in the spring. Just wondering your opinion on a spring baby named Noel.
I like the name, but when I see it spelled "Noel," I think of the boy name pronounced like the word "knoll." Maybe it's just me, but for a girl I would spell it, "Noelle"
Darling name- no matter what time of year you use it! When I see it spelled that way I think of boy (NOE-L), but if spelled Noelle I think it looks more girly.

Ditto. Remember the show, 'Wings'? I'm pretty sure the mechanic was named Noel and that's what I thought when I first read it. Though the first Noel is spelled that way...interesting...

Ditto (I actually met a male Noel yesterday pronounced like "knoll.")
Another female option would be Noel with an umlaut over the e (two dots)

Ditto on Noel being a one syllable name pronounced like 'knoll'. It is a boy's name.
If you want the two syllable pronounciation, go with Noelle. You could do the umlots as a pp suggested but your daughter would spend her life explaining that it is pronounced "no-elle" not "knoll".
If my baby is a girl,(which I'm pretty sure it is) her name will be Basil Isabella. Yes. Basil. Like the spice you cook with. My husband and I have gotton a lot of guff about it, and we just decided we don't care what people think. This would be a good philosophy for you.

Ditto.
And I actually think that a Christmas baby named Noelle is almost corny but any other time it's sweet!
i would def. not spell it that way- that to me reads as a boy name (proun: Nole) like from the show Felicity
Noelle is the traditional way to spel the girl name (that means Christmas). It is a beautiful name, and I don't think it is weird to name a girl due not at xmas that- she may get asked a couple times in her life if she was born around xmas- but that is no big deal

It doesn't seem weird for a baby born in the spring, but I was thinking it was the boy version of Noel (like Noel Gallagher - pronounced like the word "knoll" - I like it a lot for a boy). For a girl, I would probably spell it Noelle.
I agree with everyone else that it's less Christmas-y and more clearly feminine when spelled Noelle. ?If you are still stuck on it being too Christmas-y, maybe you'd like Simone or Eden?
I really like that name and I don't think it matters that she will be born in the spring. I would spell it Noelle, though, since Noel can be a boy's name.
Re: Q about the name Noel
Winter didn't even cross my mind when I saw the name.

If you like Noel, name her that!

When I see Noel I think of No-uhl as in the boy's name....not No-elle which is what I think your going for based on your winter comment.
If you're going for Noelle, I don't consider it a winter name. I work with a Noelle and when I first heard it I didn't associate it with Christmas.
I wouldn't go with the Noel spelling. I think people will always spell and pronounce it incorrectly.

Ditto everyone else about the spelling for boy v. girl & I definitely don't think it is a wintery name or anything like it. Its pretty!
PS Lowell was the guy on Wings. I love that show
