  • I kind of agree with toospooky.  Who are we to say how many children are enough for someone.

Where are all the liberals screaming that a family is not made up of mom, dad and kids?

If my (tax) dollars are supporting this family, then I am ripshit.  But if not, why is this my decision?

Grandpa said today that they have huge house which they are moving to - and the media will never know where it is.  It didn't seem like the house was in Iraq!

I would have no issues if she was responsible with this decision however clearly she was not. She has 6 children which in its self is hard to provide for and now she has 14, how does she expect to be able to provide for these children?... point is she cant she will get Govt assistance so shes not providing for these children but WE the PEOPLE are, now that is F-ed up.  If my taxes have to pay for these children why didnt I get a say if she should be able to have these kids? Why don't people have any issue with the Duggars  is beacuse they can proivde for all those kids.

So having more than a few children is irresponsible? What's wrong with being on government assistance if you need to be for a time?

And we don't get a say in how our taxes are used. Otherwise I'd say maybe Obama's new bill that he signed letting our tax dollars pay for international abortions should be addressed.

It's everyone's individual choice to decide how many children they want. When you begin regulating that, you lose freedom. You don't decide who receives nutrition and healthcare with the taxes you owe the government.

The Grandparents supposedly declared bankruptcy last year and abandoned their prior home so not sure how they are getting the new huge house.

  • I would bet that it WASN'T IVF.  There isn't a doctor in the US that would transfer 8 embryos.

    What probably happened was

    1.  She wasn't being monitored on INJECTIBLE (much stronger than clomid) fertility drugs and had an IUI.  That is irresponsible medicine.

    2.  She WAS being monitored on injectible fertility drugs and the doctor saw that there were too many follies and cancelled the cycle.  She went home and had sex anyway thus ignoring the doctor's recommendation. (this happens more than you would think).

    3.  She ordered fertility drugs off of the internet and was just completely reckless with them.

The chances of it being Clomid alone (which typically produces one, maybe two good follies) or it being IVF are extremely low IMO.  Some of the doctors that have been addressing this story have said the same thing.  I had IVF and they would not even let me think about transfering more than 2 embryos.  And would have prefered I do just one.  Most of the REs in our country are pretty good about monitoring and counseling patients.

  • I believe it was an irresponsible decision by both her & her doctors, however in this country we have the freedom to have as many children as we wish regardless of marital & financial status.

On a side note, she lives in my city!

  • I was surprised she would be even given Clomid seeing that she already had six.

I don't think the doctor can refuse fertility treatment solely based on how many children a woman already has.

  • I think many of us are being really judgmental here. The media doesn't always have the correct information: nobody knows except this woman how these children were conceived. And there is no mention anywhere of anyone accepting government assistance -- so why are some reacting as though she is?

First, she, like all of us, have a right to our own reproductive decisions. Just like the Duggars, just like "John & Kate +8" --  no matter the circumstances. She could have had religious or other reasons for going the route she did.

Secondly, there is no use going on about "irresponsibility" -- she hasn't asked for a handout, so I don't understand what the upset is.

Personally, I can't even conceive of having 8 children -- especially at the same time! I can't even conceive of having triplets....but that's just me. I just say good luck to her and I pray those babies are healthy.
