It cracks me up when I hear/see people say never regarding many of these "parenting rules". I admit I did it myself, but quickly learned you should never say never. And now it cracks me up to see others say it because I know they too, will probably eat their words at some point.

So true - I laugh now at all the idealistic plans I had when I 'thought' I knew what it would be like to be a parent. I love wandering over to BOTB and looking at all the "experts" who will/won't be doing this or that. Ha!
I tried not to say "never" before I had DD, but I do remember telling my sister that kids shouldn't watch TV before they're 2, and that I was going to try to see that DD didn't. She laughed at me. Loudly. And rightfully so.

See, that is one I have maintained with both kids! Two reasons though...
1) we only have one tv (we owned two but kept one in storage..) and have it in our basement where it's not super kid-friendly
2) because it's hidden away there is NO temptation to watch it. I absolutely understand that if the empty TV screen is staring at you it would be near impossible not to get tempted to turn it on.
My NEVER EVER EVER GONNA was co-sleeping. Ah, that ended when I was maybe getting a combined 4 hours of sleep (30 minutes here, 1 hour there) all day every day til ds' two week well baby visit. I'd nurse laying down, fall asleep with him, 1 hour later I'd wake up FREAKING OUT, and he couldn't sleep without me so he'd never sleep.
I was never snotty about the TV thing but I was snotty about the co-sleeping thing so it really was a smack down for me :P~
