Work Clothes

I was thinking that probably in late Jan/ early Feb I'll need to buy some mat. clothes. I only work 7 day shifts a month and only need dress clothes for 5 of them. Three in a row then 2 the following week. I was trying to decide how many pairs of pants I'll need. For tops I'll probably try and buy regular ones just a size larger so I have them later.

How many do you have/have you had to buy for work?

Re: Work Clothes

  • I need to wear dress clothes to work mon - thurs. I have 3 pairs of maternity pants. 1 black pair, one khaki, and one khaki colored corduroy pair. I have 2 pairs of maternity jeans.

  • I'd probably just buy a pair of black pants, a pair of gray pants, and then a khaki pair.  As far as the shirts, I'm not sure you'll get buy with just a size up in shirts.  Breasts and stomachs grow a lot and IMO there is nothing worse than someone wearing too little maternity clothes.
  • I got away with a lot less bottoms than tops. 3-4 pairs of pants for work (not including 2 pairs of jeans), 1 skirt, and lots of  tops. I worked full time. Regular larger tops did not work for me... my belly was huge, even longer maternity tops stopped covering me at about 8 months.

For business/casual clothes check out Ann Taylor Loft maternity, they constantly send me 30-40% off promos now and their stuff is pretty good quality.

  • I def have less bottoms than tops.  I have a couple black pairs, a brown, khaki and a pinstripe pair... so 5 pairs.  Then my jeans I wear on the weekend.

  • I'd probably buy a pair of black, brown/kahki, and gray pants.  I'd definitely go with maternity tops.  I think regular clothes a size up just end up looking frumpy.  Your body is so different while pg, and maternity tops really help you look more put together.

  • Sounds similar to my rotating shift schedule--9 weekdays out of 35. I got through my entire pregnancy with one pair of black dress pants. They were all so ugly that I just didn't eant to waste the money!
