Mylicon/Gas drops - how often?

How often do you give your baby gas drops? After every feeding? Once a day?  Since I primarily bottle feed DD, I give her drops either in her bottle or shortly after she's done, but my mom seems to think this is too much.

When DS was 5-6 weeks old he had awful gas pains and I would give them to him at every feeding.

I don't give them that often, b/c they don't seem to make a difference w/ DD, but on the box it says after every feeding but no more than 12x/day (if I remember correctly).  Ask your pedi if you're concerned about overdosing.

The bottle says no more than 12 doses a day so you can give every 2 hours if you need to. I used to have to give them with each bottle, but now I just use them once or twice a day if he needs them.

I only give them when he looks like he needs them, ie: seems to be straining or in pain. So I give them maybe a couple times a week. I don't think its dangerous to give it more, but it may be unnecessary.

I used to give them to DS every 2 hours at each feeding. ?Sometimes I think they worked, within minutes he'd go from screaming in agony to smiling and playful. ?

The pedi told us that Mylicon is not a "use when needed" med. It needs to be used regularly in order to do what it's supposed to do. We give it at every feeding or every other feeding.
