Would you want to be an extra in a movie?

A movie is going to be filmed in our area and they are asking for people to audition to be an extra.  It is a low-budget film, but I think it would be fun.  (Not that I'd actually be chosen, but I imagine it would be fun!)

Not now that I'm a mom.  You will be on set from about 5-6 am until whenever you get to go home (after 10 pm).  A lot of hurry up and wait.  But you do get $50 and the chance to say, "I was in  that."  But that's a long day that I would rather spend getting a massage or something.

My college roommate did this and was in a ton of movies like American Pie.  She had a lot of fun doing it, but like pp said, it's really long days, for not very much money.  I say audition and see what happens.  Ask how long the days are, etc. and then you can decide.  Who knows...you may make it big!

possibly, it depends on the movie and who is in it.

There was auditions to be extras in a movie they were filming here.  But, I think it was only for men.  Otherwise I would have gone.......George Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Ewan McGregor and Kevin Spacey were here for it.

And extras a lot of times mean "background" so you will just be walking back and forth waaaay behind the action.  Maybe stand near some one cool, but it's really not likely you'll be making out with a hot hollywood celeb ;-)

Yeah, I'm not expecting anything--not even to be able to do it.

No. It is so boring. You stand around all day long not doing anything to be in a scene for 10 seconds. Movie sets are actually very dull. A lot of movies and commercials are filmed at DH's airport. If it's low budget I doubt you'll get paid.

I think it would be fun!  You should go ;-)  It is fun to see DD when I go to the store and she is on a product.  I think it would be very fun to see you in a movie.

I've been an extra a few times (lots of movies are filmed in my area, surprisingly!) and it's BORING. LOL!! It's kind of interesting to see what's going on but 99% of it is a snooze fest. If you have the opportunity, though, I think you should take it!
