I think I'm going to make the cornbread for my stuffing tonight. We're not eating until dinner time tomorrow (6pm) so I think I have time for the rest.
i hosted an early thanksgiving dinner on monday and i did all the prep work for all my dishes the day before and had all the chopped ingredients in spereate bowls in the fridge ready to add day of... i also hate the kitchen though too so anything to cut down the time in there while people are visiting is seen as a godsend if you ask me. have fun and good luck!!
I hosted last year, and I had the pies done. All there is really to do then is the stuffing, which is better fresh, the turkey and the mashed potatoes and gravy. You can't make the gravy without drippings, so you have to wait for the turkey to be done.
I might make the butternut squash soup tonight, and maybe start to chop things, but we are just making the turkey, soup, stuffing, and gravy.
For the turkey, we are starting it in the oven, and then about an hour before we eat, we are moving to turkey to a big electric roaster to finish cooking so the oven will be free to cook the green bean bake, rolls, etc.
i'm cleaning the house and that's about it. LOL My mom's coming over tomorrow am super early so I think we'll be fine. I'm gonna be tired, but hopefully w/ the help it'll be better! : )
This is my first year hosting and to make things even more complicated we just moved into our new house last weekend!
I am doing all the prep work tonight and then have assigned tasks to each of the women in the family to handle tomorrow so that I don't have too much stress. Since we are going to be eating later in the day there will be enough time to get everything done...I think!
I cut all the veggies for veggies and dip and made mint chocolate chip ice cream pie last night. Tonight I made a salad, baked pumpkin pie, and apple crisp. Tomorrow I have to cut cheese for cheese and crackers, make mashed potatoes, and bake rolls. We're eating around 2pm.
