XP: Bella Bands?

Has anyone used these when you  were expecting?

My sister's belly is finally starting to pop. She wears a Size 2 jeans & I don't know how much longer she'll be able to wear them. They were pretty low cut, so they were hitting under her belly.

I was thinking about getting her one for Christmas . She's 18 & i know that she is NOT going to want to wear maternity jeans if she can help it. (She had on holy jeans with tights on under them).

Any reviews? Would you spend the money on them? Are any the "generic"  ones similar??

Thanks!

  • I hate mine but thats just me

  • I LOVE MY BELLA BAND!  You can guy me one for christmas if you want - I need a black one.
  • I got a generic one on Ebay and it was great until I couldn't even pull my pants over my arse.  I also had one to wear with my uniform at work until I got my maternity uniform allowance.  It definitely came in handy!
  • I didn't like mine either. I had the one from Target.
  • I LOVED my bella bands... I got a white one and a black one.  Unfortunately she won't be able to stay in her size  2 with a band for the duration of her pg but it'll last her for a while.  Then she can just go up in sizes... size 4, size 6.  I broke down and just bought Mat. pants but my friend who started out as a size 1 never wore maternity pants she just kept going up in size in regular pants.
  • Hey Sisler :)

I have the Tummy Sleeve from Motherhood Maternity and still use it all the time.  It's not the most comfortable thing in the world, but at least I can still wear my pre-preg pants and I feel MUCH better in those.

It was $18 and well worth it for me.  Not everyone liked them though, and they cannot be returned because it is considered an undergarment.  Just something to keep in mind!

  • I got the name brand one and really liked it. It started slipping and not fitting well starting last week and it was recommended to get one size UP from what I am "supposed" to get.

  • I'm totally out of the loop b/c i didn't realize these existed until just today! i saw them in a magazine at the Dr's office. I assumed the bella band simply refered to the smaller band on the maternity pants. Personally I don't think i'd use it. I was fine in my regular pants up until about 2-3 weeks ago at which point I just bought some regular maternity bottoms.
  • Honestly, she will want maternity jeans sooner or later.  I would just take her shopping and buy her a pair of mat jeans, skip the bella band.  You can't tell by looking at the jeans that they are "maternity", they look like normal jeans.  I boutgh a pair at Target and Motherhood Maternity that were $30 each and are very cute on.

  • I liked mine too until my ass wouldn't fit in my regular jeans anymore :(
  • I love mine!  Totally worth the money.

  • I love mine.  I am apparently a fat ass and at a mere 14 weeks can no longer button any of my pants...so i sitting here in my glory unzipped and unbottoned thanks to my bella band.
  • Thanks Ladies! I appreciate your input.

    (Hi RIL & freeburger!!!)

  • I love the one I got from Target.

  • They seem to be a love/hate thing. I have one Bella and one Motherhood, and still them sometimes. I prefer the Bella brand because they come in sizes (vs. OSFA), and since she's a size two she might appreciate that too.

  • I have two of them..the actual Bella Band and then the Tummy Sleeve or whatever from mimi maternity. I actually still use them a lot, either over maternity jeans to keep them from falling down, or I have one pair of non-maternity dress pants that I wear with the bella band since I haven't bothered buying any maternity dress pants.

I didn't find them THAT useful early on to hold up non maternity jeans. I had to fold and adjust them alot which was a pain especially readjusting after going to the bathroom or something, it ended up being easier to just wear maternity jeans..
