flea shampoo safe?

in 2nd Trimester

My dog has fleas and we need to treat her. Does anyone know if there is any reason why I wouldn't be able to use the flea shampoo since I'm pregnant. I didn't see any warnings on the bottle and I can't get ahold of my doctors unless it's an emergency because the office is closed. I'm hoping someone has experience with this. Thanks!

    Just get someone else to give the dog a bath.  there is also a hotline in Canada called Mother Risk :416-813-6780 they answer any questions like that... I'd just read the medical ingredients in it and look them up to see if they are harmful.

    not sure about safety during pregnancy, but there was someone who posted a while back about giving her dog a flea dip and the dog had a really bad skin reaction afterward. some of the responses suggested washing the dog with regular Ivory bar soap, I think. If I remember correctly, something about the soap kills the fleas but is more gentle on the dog's skin. and that would be fine to do while pregnant.

    Thank you all! I am just going to wait for my hubby to come home. I was just trying to get the house free-flea as quickly as possible and am not patient. But I guess the 4 loads of sheets, towels and dog bedding will keep me busy as I try to de-flea everywhere my dog is!

    NO, NO, NO! Our dog had fleas last month and we went to the vet and he reamed us for using flea shampoo! He said that they are way too toxic for your animal and never to apply it without gloves. Dh asked about being pregnant and he said absolutely dont use!

     We ended up getting a prescription one and worked in a matter of weeks!
