2nd Trimester

Anyone NOT getting T-day dinner?

I have to work 2nd shift, and my DH will be hunting (tradition for he and his dad) all morning.  All the festivities for his family and my friends fams take place in the evening, so I will be getting no turkey tomorrow :(

The hospital cafeteria will be making a lame attempt at a "Thanksgiving Feast" but I'm sure it will be gross and wholly overpriced...no thanks.

So I'm having a pity party for myself tomorrow...anyone want to join?

  • Awe - I'll drive the rediculous amount of miles for you sweetie, you can have some of my 2nd attempt at a turkey tomorrow!

Then again, you might want to pass.

    LOL!

  • I'm bummed for you.  This is one of my favorite dinners of the year...I couldn't imagine not being able to spend the day with family and food.

  • So glad I dont work in the medical feild any more. I had to get out of that before DD was school aged cause I couldnt imagine working nights and holidays while my poor baby was with someone else...I was a single mom so its different for married couples. But still, I feel your pain! If you want I'll FedEx you a plate Wink
  • Hey lady!

me, apparently the exhubs wants to wait till friday so we can fry my turkey at a friends house?!

it doesnt matter. we were only having turkey and cranberries. lol i dont feel like cookign a huge meal for 4 people. but i would like all the other stuff. :(

  • I considered making a turkey breast and all the fixins for my dad and little bro and I, but thats a LOT of work before going to work.  I do have a little turkey breast in the freezer I could whip up I suppose.

BAH.  It's just not the same.

Thanks for the pity though :)

  • This is why we always have our dinner really early (at 1:00).  Also, DH and I are doing OUR dinner on Friday, so I get two turkey days.  Wanna come visit?

  • I am going to get some turkey, but my thanksgiving is probably going to suck. I have to work tonight until 12am, then be back at work at 10am-until our store closes at 4:30ish. Then I am going to the in-laws, which MIL is making a turkey, but it's not going to be the same without my mom's stuffing and all the fixings. :( Then I have to go back to work at 4:30 in the damn morning. I got the shitty schedule this year!

My family lives near by though, so I made my mom and aunt promise to make me a plate of leftovers. Yum! Smile

  • DH & I are heading up to hang out with family for tomorrow, but we're not having the real t-day dinner. Instead we're having mexican. Alot of people couldn't make it this week, so we're having the real deal next week.

  • We're having thanksgiving dinner, but just me, DH and DD. No family this year. Our closest relatives are a 10+ hour drive away. So I'm still kind of sad.

  • Technically I won't. We're doing our own lunch Tgiving thing, then going to my ILs for dinner. But since "everyone does Txgiving dinner at lunch time" they're doing leftovers sandwiches (ala the Moist Maker sandwich from Friends). So no actual carved turkey, etc for us
