Planning your replacement

Has anyone else's work started planning their replacement yet?  I finally broke down and told work last week and after the initial congrats... my boss immediately started planning when to hire my replacement.  I know it has to be done I just didn't think they'd be all over it that quick... I mean the kid's not coming for another 51/2-6 months!

Yeah, we started here too, but nothing solid is going to happen until January.  They need to plan in advance since there's a lot of red tape to cover my spot while Im gone.

No one is replacing me, we are a small office and the rest of the workers will cover the load.  My boss was surprised that I was taking the full 12 weeks off.  I hate to see the mess I will have when I return.

I'm a teacher and secured my replacement as soon as I told work at 12 weeks.  Had I not been so proactive, I'm sure my principal would have let my class flounder from sub to sub while I was on leave.

I told my boss I was pregnant at six weeks (I am the 4th in my dept of 7 people to get pregnant in the last year).  They still haven't decided what to do.  Right now I have no backup which is really frustrating.  I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to get one.  Well, my boss's boss wants the rest of the department to "get back to normal" with the rest of the women back from maternity leave.  So, I think they will hire a temp for my job and I will come back to work after maternity leave, still with no backup and a mountain of work to cleanup - YEAH!

My work is not getting a replacement for me....which is a bonus because it means I don't have to go through everything with them.....but there's only one other staff member here at the office taking care of 12 other therapists.  I wish her the best of luck if she thinks she can do it all by herself.....I'm pretty sure I'll being coming back to chaos.
