Variations of the name "Michael"?

My brother Michael passed away last year (brain tumor).  I would like to name our new son after him, but my DH isn't on board.  I could use it as a middle name but I was wondering if there are any variations that I could use instead.  Ideas?

I have a little brother named Michael Richard, and against my mom's best wishes a lot of the family calls him Mitch.  Mitchell is similar.

I hope you find one that works for you both!  Michael is a great name!

Maybe you could come up with an agreeable name using your brother's first and middle initials. So, if his name is Michael John, you could name your baby Matthew Jacob or something like that.
