2nd Trimester

Re: What are you looking for in cribs?

  • Reading Baby Bargains, DaVinci is a pretty good manufacturer.  They say to avoid JCP because of quality issues.

    Bummer.

  • Those are really nice! We're doing a cherry wood sleigh crib set. I like the idea of being able to use it for a toddler bed!
  • The JCP one is nms.

I must have a drop-side crib so it'll be easier to get DS in and out when he gets bigger.

  • The first one is better than the 2nd one.  Also, you shouldn't pick one online if you can help it- you really need to go see it and feel how sturdy it is.  THe other biggest consideration in our household is that most convertible cribs keep the mattress fairly low.  Lifting a baby in and out of a low crib is really a pain, so we're going with one that has a fairly high mattress.

The one thing that has me on the fence about Da Vinci is that they say it scratches so easy.

  • I have a co-worker that just got the JCP one and loves it.  I think the baby bargains issues with JCP is purely customer service related since it is all by order and not in the store.  I would say do JCP if you have the time to possibly need to return and wait for another. I too am leaning towards a JCP one, they are just so pretty!
