2nd Trimester

Ready for My In-laws (long)

My turkey almost feels thawed.  I've been up since 5 cleaning and baking.  I have a pecan pie and a pumpkin pie baked already.  And I'm making fresh chocolate chip cookies right now.  I made the bed in the second bedroom after DH's brother left a couple weeks ago, but I thought the sheets might be getting stiff since the washing so I threw them in the dryer with a dryer sheet so it smells pretty and they are nice and fluffy.  I just vacuumed the house again and I freakin feel OCD.  I can't stop making more work for myself.  My mind is wondering to different things I can do.  I have 2 hours before I go to my parent's house to decorate and I'm thinking about running to Wal-Mart and buying a fire-extinguisher because I realize I don't have one.

I just want to impress my in-laws so much.  This is the first time they are coming to the new house and this is the first time they get to see me pregnant.  Last time I saw them was after the wedding and there was some money talk brought up and it made the whole visit very strange.  I just want things perfect.  I don't know why a perfect house and perfect food will make the conversation perfect.  I would really like to just sit around the whole weekend and talk about how clean my floors are and how smart I am that I have a fire extinguisher.  DH's parent's first house burnt down.  I just don't want to leave anything open for me to get picked on.

Also, DH always tries to prove himself to be doing great on his own and instead of utter happiness his parents show, they always act very skeptic that we may be living beyond our means and just don't know how to 'really' handle ourselves.  We've always been doing fine and we're still putting money into savings.  I jut want this to be the visit where DH's parents look at him and say, "You've done really well!"

  • AWE! Thats awesome!! Kudos to you for trying so hard! I hope everything goes well with them and they finally "wake up" and realize you guys are working it out quiet perfectly!!

    Awesomeness.

If you think the F.E. would help - go ahead a get one... go to HD and buy one that has ALL the labels... I think its A B C and D or something like that... and make sure to get the red one... the white one they sell is too small and is more for looks.

  • Wow, I didn't know there was much difference in fire extinguishers.  I will look for the good one.  I have a Lowes a couple miles from my house.  I guess I will try there instead of Wal-Mart.  I will probably get out of Lowes cheaper than I could with Wal-mart.
